The Daily Notable (Web Desk) The spouse of Asia Bibi at the focal point of a divisive blasphemy case on Saturday condemned the government agreement with extremists that left her in legitimate limbo and approached experts to safeguard her.
Asia Bibi, waiting for capital punishment since 2010 on blasphemy accusations, was cleared by the apex Court on Wednesday and ordered to set her free, which ignite the fire of protests by Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), who paralyzed Pakistan for three days.
The government finalized an agreement on Friday to end the dissents by consenting that Aasiya Bibi will not leave the nation, and saying it would not protest TLP reviewing the decision.
A review petition has been documented with the Supreme Court. “It is wrong to set a precedent in which you pile pressure onto the judiciary,” Bibi’s spouse Ashiq Masih disclosed to German Deutsche Welle radio.
Masih said the court had been “extremely courageous” to clear his wife, who is an ignorant mother in her 50s whose case began in 2009 while she was working in the fields.
“The current situation is very dangerous for us. We have no security and are hiding here and there, frequently changing our location,” Masih said.
“The present circumstance is extremely unsafe for us. We have no security and are hiding here and there, every now and then changing our location,” Masih said.
Bibi´s lawyer fled Pakistan on Saturday, dreading for his life.
Masih requested the legislature strengthen Bibi’s protection in jail, stressing that she might be assaulted. He referred to the instance of two Christian men who were shot dead after a court absolved them in another blasphemy case.
“The situation is dangerous for Asia. I feel that her life is not secure,” he said. “So I appeal to the government to enhance Asia´s security in jail”.
