Former interior minister Ahsan Iqbal was injured on May 6, 2018 when Hussain, 21, shot at him from a target of 15 yards amid a political gathering in his Narowal voting area.
The minister was airlifted to Lahore where he was treated for bullet wounds.
The suspect was captured and put on preliminary under anti-terror laws.
