In the recent events occurring Brig (R) Ijaz Shah ex DG Intelligence Bureau of Punjab has been notified as the Federal interior minister replacing Prime Minister Imran Khan and State Minister Shehreyar Adridi.
This has come as a huge surprise as opposition parties are mounting pressure on the government to act against the terror outfits operating within Pakistan and Imran Khan agreed that there should be no negligence regarding proper action against terrorist outfits according to national action plan.
Ijaz Shah who is recent inclusion in the federal cabinet is considered to be sympathetic towards some of sectarian extremists like the likes of Ludhianvi and this very much raises eyebrows regarding vows of government in disbanding these elements, specially after the Supreme Court judge Justice Qazi Faiz showed his concern regarding the conduct of some institutions during Faizabad Sit in and the same judge after investigating the causes of Quetta blasts (blast in civil hospital killing 88 lawyers) accused then Federal minister of being sympathetic towards sectarian extremists.
Ijaz Shah was one of highly trusted aide of ex President General Parvez Musharraf and was very unpopular among liberals due to his crackdown against common political workers, Just because they were raising voices against Musharraf regime.
In 2018 General elections the main campaign slogan of Pti was change, Is Ijaz Shah is the change and the real face of Pti for which it got mandate?
It looks that Imran Khan’s options are drying pretty fast and may be after Ramadan all opposition parties start demanding his resignation.
