The Daily Notable (Web Desk) Amid many speculations about the decision on Hajj subsidy, the government has decided to abolish the financial support given to pilgrims.
The PML-N government had sanctioned subsidy of Rs 45,000 for each pilgrim amid its last residency. Be that as it may, the government bureau chose to end the appropriation and endorsed the Hajj approach 2019.
Hajj expenses for the northern zone would be Rs436,975 and for the southern zone would be Rs427,975. The decision was taken during the federal cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan, in Islamabad on Thursday.
The cost of performing Hajj has expanded by more than 60 percent contrasted with a year ago.
In 2018, Hajjis from the northern zone paid Rs280,000 and from the southern zone Rs270,000. This is a 64 percent and 63 percent increase respectively.
Prior, Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Secretary Mushtaq Ahmed Friday said, The Government Hajj Scheme uses have progressed toward becoming dearer by Rs156,975 attributable to different reasons incorporating an expansion in transport and degrading of the rupee. A Haji would need to pay extra Rs19,451 for Qurbani.
He was informing the Senate Standing Committee on Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, led by Senator Abdul Ghafoor Haideri.
He said 184,210 Pakistanis would perform Hajj this year including the extra quantity of 5,000 conceded by the Saudi government.
Applications would be acknowledged from 20 February, and 60 percent of the quota would be given to the legislature and the staying to private administrators.
