Problems during online classes and laziness of HEC – Daily Notable
Letter to the Editor Daily Notable
Dear Editor
COVID-19 has caused serious damage to higher education in all over the world. Pakistan also has closed educational institutes like other countries, due to spread of Corona virus. Almost three and half months have been passed and mostly universities have started online classes, Higher Education Commission (HEC) have done nothing in facilitating students for continuation of their education.

Promise from HEC
From very start HEC have announced provision of internet packages at low price for students and asked the universities to develop Learning Management System (LMS) for proper commencement of online classes. But after more than three months nothing have been done.
Because Only Together We Can
Problems faced by Students
Mostly universities are using Zoom software for online classes, which is not completely free and only offer one class of forty minutes in free account. Students and teacher needs to join new session after forty minute. Another issue is slow internet, for continuous streaming students need a high speed internet which is not available in most cities. Mostly students belong to middle class families cannot afford high speed internet service. Many universities lack LMS which necessary for proper commencement of classes, attendance record and fair marking. This issue caused a feeling of uncertainty in students. When they do not have their attendance recorded and they cannot receive their cumulative grades.
Possible Solutions
HEC have started very well by planning to provide cheaper internet and setting up LMS in universities but this plan was not practically done. HEC needs to practically take steps and provide cheaper and fast speed internet service in allover Pakistan. Secondly HEC should make it necessary for universities. To provide free training and subscription of paid software like Zoom and Microsoft Teams. To faculty and students, so that they can easily continue their learning process.

Excellent suggestions for improvement
Thanks sir
Obviously HEC has done nothing to facilitate students, though online classes is a really appreciation step despite the fact that they are ignoring the problems that students are facing.
I belong to a middle class family i am managing some how the internet packages though my father didn’t recieved the salary due to covid19 lockdown but its also a fact that i am not getting any benefit from these online classes. How we are abe to understand the chemistry through a vedio which continues to interrupt because of poor Internet in village areas.
Do they just want fee from us so that can pay their professor or they have any care about or future?????
Yes sir you are right.
