Rape Culture and It’s pace by Dr Attaulwadood – Eagle Eye – DN
The culture that is spreading at such an accelerated pace that no other culture has ever existed like this. This culture for its establishment required eyes that could see, ears that could hear, but tongues which remained silent under all circumstances and emotions that disliked it to the point of hatred.
Apparently, everyone wants it to vanish but no one wants to raise their voice. And those who raise their voices are considered just as bad as they, who themselves are the preachers.
Here, I am talking about the rape culture -the trending culture. I can say that almost every woman has faced this situation, regardless of her status and identity.
So, are you waiting for your turn or have you been through this trauma and spending your life in fear that when will it be the next time that this gets repeated? Or are you waiting for this storm to come into the life of your mother, sister, wife or maybe daughter?
At every incident, the prey is asked to pretend that nothing has happened. While there are many reasons to shut them up, the major reason is being abandoned.
Let me reveal a fact for those who say: what would happen if I say anything? My voice will not make any difference or it’s the culture and it is completely useless to talk about it. I have good news for such concerned people, many congratulations.
See, where your silence has brought us! Without your constant silence and ignorant attitude we would never have reached this far. Thanks a lot for rising and strengthening the rapists, abusers, spoilers, broad jumpers and assailants, people like you owe alot!
Look, as sentient this shows the power of voice. No angel is going to land on this planet to resolve such conflicts and brings us just air. For how much longer are we going to act dumb and deaf; and allow these ravishers to play with our honor?
For how long are we going to play the game of victim and accuser? And for how long these molesters will be freed in the name of psychological disorder?
If not now, then the question is when?
Instead of looking towards the courts for justice, we need to wake up and question ourselves holding ourselves responsible!
Being a part of this society, I am done with this culture. I need change and that’s the mere purpose of this writing. Come forward, raise your voice against this brutality because we can only do this together!
The case of Mukhtara Mai and little Zainab are the prove that we can get justice. But to make the system swift; We, the public of this country has to raise their voice. We need to give assurance to our officials of whether they are honestly and truly doing their job well or not.
