Indian troops deliberately target UN vehicle: ISPR – Daily Notable

According to the sources of Daily Notable, The Indian Army on Friday targeted a vehicle carrying two officers of the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) from across the Line of Control (LoC).
The incident comes as relations between the two South Asian nuclear powers remain tense with Indian troops routinely targetting Pakistan Army positions and civilian areas in the region.
Soon after the attack on the UN vehicle, the Pakistan Army evacuated the UN personnel to UNMOGIP field station in Rawalakot. The vehicle sustained damage in the attack but the occupants remained unhurt.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the incident occurred at 10:45am today as the military observers were “enroute to interact with CFV victims in Polas Village in Chirikot Sector”.

The military’s media wing stated that UN vehicles are clearly recognisable, even from long distances “due to their distinct make and type and clearly visible markings”.

The military said such an illegal and unlawful act, against UN personnel, is against all established international norms and signifies “malintent of Indian Army to target not only innocent civilians residing along the Line of Control but UN Peace Keepers as well”. recent report by the EU DisinfoLab which exposed an Indian disinformation network of “fake websites and fake NGOs that they had launched with a sole objective to malign Pakistan”.
Qureshi said the situation in Indian occupied Kashmir “was never good but has deteriorated further”.
The ongoing farmers’ protests in Punjab, Qureshi said, was a “country-wide protest” resulting from “the policies of this regime, the BJP regime”.
He said the protest was growing, with various segments of India such as “opposition parties, lawyers, civil society and trade unions” expressing their support for it.
