Superlative Performance of Punjab District Judiciary…!!!
Following the directions issued by Chief Justice of Lahore High Court, Lahore, Muhammad Qasim Khan, to the courts across the province, record decisions were announced in the district judiciary of Punjab.
Despite limited court proceedings during the Corona epidemic, more than 2 million cases were decided in the year – 2020. Quick and fair dispensation of justice boosted the confidence of litigant public and lawyers of the province.
According to the data released by the Directorate of District Judiciary, a total of more than 2,018,000 cases were decided in the Civil and Sessions Courts in the Punjab during the year 2020, out of which 1,330,000 cases were decided in the Civil Courts and in Sessions Courts 688,152 cases were decided. Moreover, more than 2.2 million new cases had been instituted in the district judiciary of Punjab in last year.
According to statistics, during the year-2020, in the district court of Lahore, about 2 lac 75 thousand cases were disposed off. In which 1 lac 85 thousand cases were decided in Civil Courts and about 90 thousand cases were decided in Sessions Courts of the District Lahore. More than 3 lac new cases were instituted during the last year and about 2 lac 63 thousand cases are still pending the district courts of Lahore.
Furthermore, 92,857 and 54,181 cases were decided in the civil and session courts, respectively, of Faisalabad during the last one year. A total of 65,607 cases were decided in the civil and session courts of Muzaffargarh. In addition, a total of 94,281 cases were decided in the civil and session courts of Gujranwala, including 61,862 civil cases and 32,429 session cases. In the last one year, a total of more than 95,000 cases have been decided in the district courts of Multan, including 62,363 civil cases and 32,661 session cases, while more than 76,000 civil and session cases are pending in the district courts of Multan.
Similarly, during the last year, 77,786 cases were decided in the civil courts of Rawalpindi and 23,577 cases in the Sessions courts. A total of 61,676 cases were decided in the Sheikhupura courts and 65,231 cases were decided in the district judiciary of Bahawalpur whereas 41,419 and 30,017 cases were decided in the civil and session courts of Rahim Yar Khan respectively.
It should be noted that last year, despite the courts proceedings were restricted due to Corona epidemic, but the judges of the district judiciary showed excellent performance.
