Drivers follow safety precautions during fog: SSP Zubaida Perveen

SSP Punjab Highway Patrol, Region Faisalabad, Zubaida Perveen told Daily Notable, that road safety awareness is the prime focus of the Mobile education unit. Smooth flow of traffic is the supreme duty of Punjab Highway Patrolling police.
In order to effective traffic management and reduce accidents on highways, the education to sensitize road users about rules of safe driving in fog is undertaking on the daily basis. Moreover, she said that the week of reflector pasting on slow-moving vehicles is being carried out. However, she dilated upon the working of Mobile Education Unit.
Efficacy of Mobile Education Unit:
Mobile Education Unit is the best instrument to create awareness about road safety and pressing issues such as fog, vehicles with unapproved cylinders, smoke emitting vehicles and COVID 19.
Further, she told that the Multitude of citizens belonging to different walk of life has been educated about traffic rule and Precautionary measures to ward off contract of COVID-19 and rules of safe driving during fog.
The objective of the Mobile education unit is multifaceted and needs of the hour to make people sensitize not only about road safety but also prevalent issues such as the Novel Coronavirus, fog and abuse of drugs etc. Fatal accidents claimed almost hundred and thousands of innocent lives per year.

Mobile education unit has predominant responsibility to create awareness about fog, road safety and Corona virus in the educational institutions, public places, bus terminals, union councils, health care centers and commercial markets. Roadshows and the establishment of road camps helps people to know about traffic rules and ongoing awareness campaigns.
It builds soft image of the department as imparting education, distributing of pamphlets and leaflets bolster community policing.
Further, she dilated upon the prospective plan to educate the road commuters, public and people at large.
Incharge Mobile Education, Muhammad Rizwan Bhatti has devised a plan to conduct road shows, road camps and a seminar at bus stands to create awareness about the hazards of irresponsibility and reckless driving during fog. Moreover, he briefed that the drivers should use fog lights when the visibility reduce to 100 meter.
Avoid overtaking and reduce speed to only 40 Km/h. keep distance from the front vehicles and avoid changing lanes during fog.
However, reflectors are also being pasted on the slow-moving vehicles, sugar cane trollies and Rickshaws. In the month of February, almost 15 reflectors were pasted on the back of slow-moving and animal-drawn vehicles.
