Afghanistan has been at war for the last 40 years. After the 9/11 attacks in America, an investigation declaration report by American Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) claimed that terrorist group Al-Qaeda is behind this massacre.
After that American President George W. Bush administration passed the joint resolution in Congress and showed his stance to fight against terrorism. Countries like Britain, Australia, Canada, Germany showed Alliance to the United States. This was the time when the United States completely invaded Afghanistan.
The United States launched the operation on 7 October 2001 signaling the presence of Al-Qaeda leader Usama Bin Laden in Afghanistan.
In 2001 the regime of the Taliban is demolished by the US force and their Alliance Britain along with Afghan fighters knowns as the Northern Alliance group in Afghanistan. At that time Afghan president Mr. Hamid Karzai is appointed as Chairman of the Afghan Interim Administration.
United Nations played its role in this War to maintain security structure UN order and established an international Security Assistance Force (ISAF). The main purpose of ISAF (NATO LEAD FORCE) under the supervision of America is to fight against the Taliban. Numbers of Operations were conducted by this force.
Approximately 130,000 (North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) forces arrived in Afghanistan. Until the year of 2009 Afghanistan burn in the fire of War. In the regime of President Barak Obama, the US stayed on the same page and followed up War against Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan.
On December 1, 2009, President Barak Obama addressed US Military Academy and said “I want to speak about our efforts in Afghanistan the nature of our commitment, the scope of our interest, and the strategy that my administration will persuade to bring this war to a successful conclusion. I make this decision because I’m convinced that our security is at stake in Afghanistan and Pakistan”.
He mentioned, “this is the epicenter for violent extremism practiced by Al-Qaeda. It is from where we were attacked on 9/11 and it is from where new attacks are being plotted”. After that Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden was killed in the Abbottabad operation by US troops on May 2, 2011.
IN 2017 US President Donald Trump hold a meeting with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani. Us president said that “the Afghan soldiers are doing the fighting trained by the US and we are also working with them very closely. We are hitting them (Taliban) very hard and very effectively and we really have no choice other than that”.
In the current Scenario, the newly elected President of the US Joe Biden announced that the US will withdraw its troops from Afghanistan by September 11, 2021.
The action taken by Joe Biden’s government raised many questions that the United States conceded defeat in Afghanistan as Russia have done in past. The most important consequence of this decision is that the US training and alliance to the Afghan Army ended with no result and that’s why the Taliban are consolidating their position in Afghanistan.
Pakistan always believed in Table Talk as Pakistan PM Imran khan strongly showed Pakistan Stance on Afghanistan Peace process. In an interview to US Broadcaster when asked about providing the military base to US army in Pakistan Mr. Khan Said “absolutely Not”.
In a question regarding Us withdrawal from Afghanistan Mr. Imran Khan said “happy in one way because there never going to be any military solution in Afghanistan.
Anxious that they are leaving without a political settlement and there is the possibility of civil war”. In years of Afghan war there is bloodshed of unarmed people of Afghanistan.
According to the United Nations assistance mission in Afghanistan, about 111,000 civilians have been killed or injured in the Afghan war since UN started systematically recording civilian casualties in 2009.
In a statement of Afghan President Mr. Ashraf Ghani, he said “in 2019 more than 45,000 members of the Afghan security forces had been killed”. On the other hand, Pakistan had sheltered Afghan refugees since long as country registered more than 1.4 million Afghan migrants.
Since the beginning of the war United States spends a lot of money in this process. According to the Us defense department report 2020 the warfighting total cost is 815.7 billion US Dollar a year as well as US military suffered since 2001 with death tolls of more than 2,300 deaths.
After years of fighting and loss of many lives now the United States considered that dialogue is the only solution for the Afghanistan issue.-PUNA
