Women Empowerment by Dr. AttaulWadood – Daily Notable
Women Empowerment a handsome topic to discuss to some people. On the other hand, it’s so boring to some however, some people discuss it only for the sake of it. But the thing is, how it all actually started? What is the definition of this term? Do we really need it? Why women are not secure living among us? Is there problem in men, or in women or in the mindset? What are the grounds for it at all? Here I’ll be explaining all this briefly.
So, let’s start with the history. In western countries the movement started with specific phrases. It is split into three waves. The first wave began in the 19th and early 20th century where suffrage was a key feature. The second wave of the 1960s included the sexual revolution and the role of women in society. Third wave feminism is often seen as beginning in the 1990s.

So, Women Empowerment refers to the approach to promoting women’s sense of self-worth, their ability to determine their own choices, and their right to influence social change for themselves and others.
Unlike the patriarchal society, where male dominance is all power, a man who stands for his wife is known as “Joru ka Ghulam” and when he gives his daughter her rights from the rights to quality education to the freedom of expression gets labelled as liberal.

I never say that being open-minded or liberal is bad in any sense but the point is such practices should’ve been made so common that when a male gives rights to the women in his life he’s not considered alienated or someone different. This is the problem when anyone talks about these delicacies he gets hatred or gets look down upon. This is the reason of owner killing, fragile male ego just don’t let it go with the flow.
It is an understood thing that no nation can progress without his females. So, why are we the majority men in Pakistan are afraid to give our female their basic right. I never say to adapt the western culture but we really need to look at females as a whole human. They are no lesser than men and should be given their rights. Our presence needs to be source of comfort for them not the other way around.
No one is going to come and change the ongoing trends for us. It is upon us and only it is our duty to make them feel and secure. We need to change as it is said, charity begins at home. Let’s start contributing our part by making people feel safe around us. Because together we can make it better. Let’s try to make 2022 better by playing our positive role from a colleague, to wife, mother and daughter!
