Is Sub Inspector more powerful then IG Punjab – Daily Notable

with heavy heart I have to write today that few days ago Inspector General of Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan has said that transparent, impartial and non-discriminatory departmental accountability of police officers and personnel is an important part of my policy for which the performance of Internal Accountability Branch will be made more effective his these claims are just mere words as our team eagle eye reported about alleged corrupt practices of SI Safdar as despite of all the allegations no substantial investigation is being initiated against the said officer.

It is pertinent to mention that despite of allegations regarding Safdar alleged corruption IG Punjab has failed to take any action against the accused officer and he is still enjoying his power on the same seat as investigation officer.

The things which saddens me is despite of his high thoughts regarding his anti corruption campaign in which Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that officers and officials involved in corruption, abuse of power and illegal activities have no place in Punjab Police still we see that those who are involved in corruption are being protected by the system.

I as a journalist urge IG Punjab that he should ensure strict and timely action against corrupt officers and officials upon proving irregularities in departmental inquires as his name and honor is also at stake and his silence against black sheep’s makes us think he doesn’t want to keep his promises of eradicating corruption .

Corrupt elements specially in the police department do irreparable damage to reputation of the department and society becomes unlawful when it observes lawless behaviour of security personnel.

The main problem with the resolution of complaints in police department is delay in taking action against the corrupt elements.

I my self have filed a complaint against SI Safdar regarding which IGP said that citizens are free to file complaint against any police officer or official. I filed the complaint on 24th December 2021 my complaint # is 3649904.

These are the sad state of affairs that since 24th December no action has been taken against the accused police officer and he is being protected by the system. I want to ask IGP that are the doors of your office are open for me to come and ask regarding the issue?

The process of internal accountability of officers and personnel should be further expedited.

The policy of rewards and punishment should be adopted to eradicate corruption and no one involved in corruption should be allowed to remain part of the police force. – PUNA
