PFA imposes EPOs on two juice manufacturing factories over violations

According to the sources of Daily Notable, The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Tuesday stopped the production of two juice factories and lodged the first information reports against the food business operators besides discarding thousands of kilograms of expired beverages.
PFA Director General Shoaib Khan Jadoon said that action was taken against both units during the inspection operation of juice factories on Sheikhupura Road. He said that PFA discarded 5,500 litres of expired juices and 80kg of fungus-infested expired mango pulp while visiting both factories.

He said that PFA watchdogs also witnessed an abundance of inspects and stinky environment. He said that emergency prohibition orders (EPOs) were imposed over failure to meet the provincial food regulations.
Jadoon said that the use of spurious drinks prepared without formulas lead to stomach ulcer, cancer and other diseases.

He has urged people to prefer homemade fresh and nutritious food instead of consuming ready-made products. He has appealed to the public to read the writing on the label before purchasing any foodstuff.
The authority will continue its indiscriminate action against counterfeiters and adulterators till complete elimination from Punjab, he added. – PUNA
