“First Extension Leadership Development Workshop” at University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

“First Extension Leadership Development Workshop” at University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences Lahore’s Ravi Campus Pattoki. The aim of the workshop was to build the capacity of the participants in the area of the whole agricultural system, rural development, extension approaches and various innovative teaching tools and communication skills.
Director (ICE&E) Dr. Hassan Mahmood Warriach chaired the inaugural session of the extension management development workshop while 25 faculty members from affiliated Livestock Assistant Diploma (LAD) institutes of (Layya, Jhang and Pattoki) and students were present.
On this occasion Dr. Hassan Mahmood Warriach said a multi-disciplinary approach in extension education is the only way to improve farmers’ livelihoods as well as their profitability. Research Leader Ms. Humera Iqbal and Abdul Aziz facilitated the conduct of this workshop to promote participants’ understanding of creative facilitation methods and the role of the Livestock Assistant.
Following each training workshop, the participants will start an extension program around 10-15 villages of each respective institute affiliated to LAD. Faculty members and their students will provide improved farm extension services to farmers in various villages to improve productivity and profitability of livestock farmers.
Participants were also provided with a framework for improving their scientific writing skills. Various aspects discussed during the workshop covered the latest technical knowledge in animal husbandry and communication skills and scientific writing tools. – PUNA
