According to the sources of Daily Notable, E-challan system of Islamabad capital city safe city police has issued 68,911 tickets to motorists for various traffic violations in the federal capital Islamabad through city security cameras, Police Public Relations Officer said.
He said that on the special instructions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, Islamabad Police Chief is using all available resources and taking strict action against traffic violators as per law.
According to details, the capital city Islamabad police issued 654 e-challan tickets in the last 24 hours and a total of 68,911 e-challan tickets have been issued to motorists for various traffic violations so far.
CPO Safe City said e-challan tickets were delivered to the violators at their home address. A copy of the challan has been attached to the vehicle master file at the tax office for non-payment of fine within the given time, he added.
Car owners who were fined could not sell or transfer their vehicle until the charges were cleared. The fine can be paid through various banks, mobile accounts and other digital means.
He further said that after the introduction of this new challan system, there has been a significant decrease in the number of road accidents and traffic offenses in the federal capital.
The move was aimed at making residents of the capital obey traffic laws even in the absence of traffic officials using modern technology, he claimed. – PUNA
