According to the sources of Daily Notable, Ambassador of Ethiopia Jamal Baker Abdullah visited the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) here on Thursday.
The envoy called on President Saqib Rafiq and other officials. On this occasion, President Saqib Rafiq gave a summary and briefed the ambassador on the ongoing activities of the Chamber.
He said that Pakistan can benefit from the African markets and Ethiopia is one of the key destinations where Pakistani traders explore opportunities for the development of non-traditional sectors such as pharmaceuticals, poultry, IT services and other sectors.
The Chamber will be in touch with the Ethiopian Embassy for the visit of a trade delegation next month and added that direct flights access and ease regulatory compliance can help Pakistani industrialists to take benefit.
Addressing the businessmen and traders at RCCI, Ambassador of Ethiopia Jamal Baker said that Ethiopia is a gateway to the African region. He said that Ethiopia imports other products including pharma, textiles and construction materials.
He said that Ethiopian Airlines plans to start direct flights from Addis Ababa to Karachi from March 22 this year, which will help improve public and business connections between the two countries. He said that later flights will be started with other cities Islamabad and Lahore.
Senior Vice President Muhammad Hamza Sarosh, Vice President Faisal Shahzad, Executive Members and Chamber Members were also present on this occasion. – PUNA
