According to the sources of Daily Notable, The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has stopped the production of two food points and served warning notices for improvement to 68 food business operators (FBOs) besides discarding 1,260 substandard milk as well as 2,391kg other food items during the ongoing Sehri and Iftari Inspection campaign.
PFA’s food safety team inspected 281 food points in different areas of Lahore to ensure the provision of safe, hygienic, adulteration free and standardized food for the people of Punjab during Ramadan.
The PFA Spokesperson said that the authority took action against FBOs due to using substandard ingredients, failing to ensure food safety standards, preserving food at foot level, poor personal hygiene and the presence of cobwebs in production area. Meanwhile, PFA has lodged a first information report against a food point for violating the Punjab Pure Food Regulations.
The use of substandard food ingredients in the preparation of food leads to chronic disease. He has appealed to the public to keep an eye on adulteration in their surroundings and to inform PFA on 1223 helpline number or its social media accounts in case of witnessing any suspicious activities related to milk adulteration. – PUNA
