According to the sources of Daily Notable, The memorandum of Understanding (MoU) ceremony regarding declaration of Smoke and Drug Free Campus between Drug Advisory Training Hub DATH and Ibadat International University held today at University campus. Syed Zulfiqar Hussain, Consultant, Anti Drug/Narcotics Campaign from Drug Advisory Training Hub(DATH) and Dr. Syed Amir Gilani singed on MoU.
Syed Zulfiqar said that drug is a big issue and a large number of students involved in drugs. He further said that about 19 institutions already declared as Smoke and Drug Free Campuses in Punjab according to International standards on drug use prevention.
He further said that new trends of drug addiction increasing in students who belong to rich or poor families and different pharmasuctal drugs, ice, LSD, Heroin, Coocken, chars, gutka and naswar easily available in the market.
Hussain said that the problem particularly, crystal ice, cocaine and heroin still are gave concern for all of us and the problems of drug abuse cannot be solved by the government alone. But the government aware gravity of the problems and we are making all efforts to control drug menace in the society.
According to National Survey 2013 conducted by Ministry of NCD and UNODC, about 6.7 million people are using hard and soft drugs in Pakistan.
Rector Dr. Syed Amir Gilani highlighted the issue of drug among students and he said that a comprehensive planning should be introduced according to international prevention standards. He said that our main responsibilities to curb the menace of drugs in side and sounding areas of University.
Coordinator Syed Mohsin, Dr. Faisal Rehman, Dr. Ishaq and a large number of students were also present on the occasion.- PUNA
