According to the sources of Daily Notable, Ajoka International Theatre Selection Committee met yesterday to select international theatre production for the festival being held in the second week of November.
The committee members included Professor Hassan Amir Shah, ex-VC GC University, Zara Salman, Ajoka Chair, Professor Ahmad Bilal, Sohail Warraich, Madeeha Rasheed, Farwa Syed. The meeting unanimously selected productions from US, UK, India, Indonesia, Lebanon, Zambia, Italy South Africa and Iran.
The themes of the festival are peace, human rights and social change. The festival events will include indoor and outdoor performances, mimes, dance drama and theatre workshops.
Shahid Nadeem’s play “Barri” was performed at the NAPA women performers festival, and received emotional and prolonged applause the audience.
The play was directed by Napa alumni Aisha Bakhteyar. The play has been produced by Ajoka in 1987, directed by Madeeha Gauhar and has since been performed in various cities of Pakistan, India and US. It was also adapted as a PTV serial ” Neelay Hath”. – PUNA
