Karachi
Uzair Jan Baloch known as key figurehead of Karachi’s well-knows gang war in his hometown, Lyari. Baloch also the former president of the Peoples Aman Group, a terrorist organization affiliated to the People’s Party of Pakistan (PPP). Baloch is guilty of kidnapping, extortion and extremism in many cases and has become a suspect sought by law enforcement authorities after being arrested several times.
Political and criminal career
Baloch started his career in politics as an independent candidate for the mayor ship of Lyari in the 2001 municipal elections but lost to Habib Hassan of the Pakistan People’s Party. In 2003, Arshad Pappu, son of Lyari drug lord Haji Lalu, abducted his father for ransom.

He then brutally murdered him. It is said that this marked Uzair’s entrance into organized crime, as he set out to avenge the murder of his father. Baloch primarily pursued his father’s murder case in courts but received threats from Lalu’s gang. Arshad Pappu happened to rival a gangster Rehman Dakait, Uzair’s first cousin, with the two involved in a bitter conflict over land and drugs in Lyari. In 2013, Uzair’s group subsequently abducted, tortured, and beheaded Arshad Pappu and his nephew Yasir Arafat. After burning their remains paraded, and the ashes discarded in a drain. Uzair Baloch and his partner Baba Ladla reportedly played football with their severed head.
Arrest
Sindh police SP Chaudhry Aslam arrested Uzair in 2003. But later released on bail later because of his ties with famous politicians. Uzair became the new gang chief after the assassination of Rehman Dakait and got active in multiple illegal activities. He became chairman of the Commission on Peoples Aman. Uzair also had ties with the Pakistan People’s Party, and until 2012 PPP supported him. In June 2014, he became wanted for more than 50 cases of extortions, target killings of policemen and gang members.
Rangers-Army custody
The army announced in April 2017 that Uzair had taken into custody on charges of “espionage” and “leakage of sensitive security information to foreign intelligence agencies”.
Severe action should be taken
Prison officials told an ATC in June 2018 that Uzair that they handed over to the army on 11 April 2017 for interrogation in an explosive and weapons case in the presence of the civil judge and the judicial magistrate XI (South).
Severe action should be taken
Baloch got sentence to 12 years imprisonment on April 07, 2020. And sent to the Karachi Central Jail after the military trial against him has completed. Now, must take strict action against all those responsible for the offences.
Whereas, the truth is that Uzair Baloch actively affects the country’s governance structure. Moreover, PPP used Baloch for their won illegal purposes. Gang chief Uzair Baloch can only sentence to death as a killer but the crimes committed by Baloch appear to warrant greater retribution than the death penalty.
