According to the sources of Daily Notable, In line with the vision of Faiz Ahmad Chadhar, Director General, Customs Intelligence to nip the menace of smuggling in the bud, the ASO team of Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation-Customs, Regional Office, Lahore conducted successful operations in the recent days under the leadership of Saima Shahzad, Director I&I-Customs and supervision of Ch. Rizwan Bashir Kalair, Additional Director – Customs and including Ali Asad, Deputy Director, Rai Muhammad Waqar, Sohail Ahmad, Superintendents, Aslam Iqbal, Ali Tahir, Faran Khalid, Ahtisham Naveed, Gulzar Bhatti & Muhammad Arif, Intelligence Officers and other customs staff.
During these successful en route operations on different tip offs, the Directorate intercepted 07 NCP / Tampered vehicles including 01 Toyota Mark X, 02 Toyota Vitz Cars, 02 Toyota Aqwa Cars, 01 Toyota Land Cruiser Parado, 01 Range Rover and 11 Heavy Bikes with 06 Motorcycle Engines, total valuing Rs. 47 million PKR (approx.).
In addition, huge quantities of smuggled / non-duty paid Betel Nuts 4300 kgs, Chewing Tobacco 300 kgs, Cigarettes 10,000 Pkt, Cloth 6048 kgs, Aluminum Foil 14000 kgs, Stainless Steel Wire 16500 kgs, Ceramic Tiles 2500 Ctn, Auto Parts / scrap, Dry Apricot 2730 kgs, Dry Fig 750 kgs, total valuing Rs. 95 million PKR (approx.), were also seized.
Total value of the smuggled NCP vehicles and non custom paid goods seized in the last 3 days of second week of Feb: 2023 is approximately Rs. 142 million PKR (apparox)
02 FIRs have been registered against the accused and 02 persons have been arrested. Further, Investigations are under way. – PUNA
