Islamabad: We can promote peace, love and brotherhood in Pakistan through the thoughts and messages of Sufi poets. There is a need to spread the message of Sufis and bring the soft image of Pakistan before the world.
These views were expressed by Shafqat Mahmood, Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training and National Heritage and Culture in the International Sachal Conference held on the occasion of the 199th Anniversary Sufi Poet Sachal Sarmat organized by the Pakistan Academy of Letters.
International Sachal Conference Presided over by Mehtab Akbar Rashdi. Wajiha Akram Parliamentary Secretary of Federal Education and Professional Training and Inamullah Khan, Secretary of National Heritage and Culture also attended the conference. Dr. Yousuf khushk, Chairman PAL presented an introductory note. The conference started with Sachal’s Kalaml by Faqir Ayaz Mallah and his companion from the shrine of Sachal Sarmast. Scholars of Sachal from across the country and around the world presented articles via video link. Dr. Hakim Ali Bardo and Dr. Sadia Tahir Moderated the seminar.
Shafqat Mahmood said that Sachal spread the message of religious tolerance through his poetry and it needs tolerance in these days of the epidemic has hardly ever before. Sufis poets spiritual awakening through their poetry in the Indus Valley and spread awareness throughout the region, Sachal Sarmast’s name is prominent in Sindh after Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.

If we are to face such heavenly calamities, then the thought of Sachal Sarmast and other Sufis must be spread out. Sufis in their time spread the message of brotherhood. Among his Believers, not only Muslims but also people of other religions were attracted. Sachal Sarmast also has the same message in his poetry on which we can be the process become a great nation by following it today.
Federal Minister said that In the Indus Valley and throughout the region Sufis through and their poetry promoted spiritual awakening and awareness. Sachal Sarmast’s name is prominent in Sindh after Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhatti. It would not be wrong to say that his poetry consciousness and Inspiration is very strong. The number of beneficiaries of the spiritual and intellectual blessings of Sachal Sarmast is unlimited. If we spread the message of Sufism, many problems can be overcome.
He said that the National Heritage and Culture Division Congratulate to PAL on holding a successful and purposeful conference and hope that the PAL will move forward in an efficient manner in the leadership of Dr. Yousuf Khushk and the message of peace and love will spread through literature.
Mehtab Akbar Rashdi said that the era of Sachal Sarmast was the era of Kalhora and Talpur rulers of Sindh where extremism and religious hatred were at their peak. In such a situation, Sachal Sarmast turned the Sindh into a place of peace of the common man through his poetry. He felt the surrounding environment intensely and accepted its impact and there was softness and moderately merged in his temper and the color of the welfare and Wellness of humanity apparent in his poetry.
She said that jurisprudential differences were on the rise during the Kalhora period and Sachal Sarmast was well aware that the courtier scholars were involved in the background of this hatred process accordingly, he started a movement against the scholars through his poetry. This subject was new in Sindhi poetry so this Idea gained popularity. In this situation, In thought and feeling of Sachal very strong foundations Philosophy of Sufism was established
Dr. Yousuf khushk, Chairman PAL said that Sufism is not just a theory for Sachal Sarmast rather, it has emerged as an experience and attitude of life. He sees the universe through the eyes of a Sufi and whether the Sufi is from Delhi or Deccan or Darza Sindh, the feelings are the same. Sachal Sarmast, Khwaja Mir Dard, and Wali Deccani were contemporaries but not relate to one language. It is the perfection of Sachal’s mysticism that a person has not gone out of his area all his life
He said that it is the perfection of Sachal’s scientific mysticism that a person has not gone out of his area all his life and he is giving a universal message with great simplicity, cleanliness, elegance and enthusiasm, sitting in a remote town like Darza. PAL will hold online conferences in lockdown on the occasion of Sufi Poets days.
Jabbar Mirza from Islamabad said that Sachal Sai’s name was Mian Abdul Wahab Farooqi but famous for always telling the truth became Sachal, Sacho and Sachyoo. No one else was born in Sindh like him.
Taj Joyo from Hyderabad said that Sachal Sarmast is called Mansoor Sani and Attar Sindh, but if their intellectual sources are studied, Hafiz Shirazi also has a profound effect on Sachal.
Nasr Malik from Denmark said that the poetry of Sachal Sarmast has been introduced in the circle of Danish Sufi since 1291 and is working as a beacon for the seekers of unity, existence, spirituality and peace of mind.
Dr. Abasin Yousafzai from Peshawar said that Sachal Sarmast’s poetry does not believe in language, race, region and religious boundaries between human beings but advocates the formation and welfare of society according to his universal ideology.
Dr. Fatima Hassan from Karachi said that love for human beings is the Belief of all Sufis but Sachal has the characteristic that he was familiar with all the languages spoken in the region except his mother tongue Sindhi.
Syed Khizer Noshahi from Mandi Bahauddin said that Sachal has made Attar Nishapuri philosophy of thought the subject of research in Persian. In poetry, his weights, rhymes, lines, and even the bhars have been used.
Dr. Mehr Khadim from Khairpur said that Sachal Sarmast Urdu poetry has its own accent, it does not include imitation of anyone else. His poetry has its own melody and its own identity.
Mumtaz Bukhari from Sukkur said that Sachal Sarmast also got the same political and social environment of Sindh as it was in the time of Shah Latif, therefore Sachal Sarmast poetry was affected.
Prof. Altaf Aseeim from Ranipur said that Sachal Sarmast writes conscious and sensitive poems in Persian, Sindhi, Seraiki and Urdu to eradicate the causes of turbulent times, external aggression, conflict of local tribes intolerance and religious hatred so that there is a could get out the way of peace and tranquility for humanity.
Dr. Javed Hassan Chandio from Bahawalpur said that Sachal Name has not listened in the literary, political and social history of the Sindh or Seraiki region. This name was chosen by Abdul Wahab himself and called himself Sachal and Sachu. That is nothing but truth and truth only.
Amar Iqbal from Khairpur said that Sachal Sarmast’s poetry has influenced modern Sindhi poetry intellectually and artistically and this trend is still going on.
Dr. Fakhra Noorin from Islamabad said that the narration of all the romantic stories of the region in the poetry of Sachal Sarmast is not an observance of any ritual or tradition but the process of finding a suitable expression for expressing one’s thoughts and ideas.
