This will also provide a platform to interact with the international maritime industry for joint ventures, technology transfer and research to make Pakistan’s maritime and defense industry relevant.
Concurrently, a part of the PIMEC i.e. International Maritime Conference – 2023 led by the National Institute of Maritime Affairs was also organized under the theme “Adopting the Blue Economy – Challenges and Opportunities for Developing Countries”. Distributed thematically in 4 sections, the IMC will include 27 contributions from national and international speakers of good repute.
The Pakistan International Maritime Exhibition and Conference is held in tandem with the multinational exercise AMAN-23, which will provide an opportunity for more than 122 delegates from 50 participating navies to witness the event. This will also increase opportunities for local exhibitors to interact with international attendees from visiting navies from around the world.
The maritime sector is at the heart of global trade and economy, the current value of the global ocean economy is about US$1.5 trillion per year, and is expected to double by 2030. Thus, it can be interpreted that the nation’s prosperity and economic growth are facilitated to a greater extent by the maritime sector.
Hence, the Pakistan Navy in coordination with MoMA took the initiative to bring in national and international sailors to raise maritime awareness and bring to the fore the largely untapped maritime sector of Pakistan.
The joint initiative of PN – MoMA to organize the first Pakistan International Maritime Exhibition and Conference is expected to not only boost the blue economy but also herald the socio-economic development of Pakistan’s coastal belt. – PUNA
